Kanon is a series about the girls err... life of Yuichi Aizawa. It talks about the five main girls around Yuichi and their problems. The series, at first, is very dragging. I had an on-off-on-off experience in watching this series since it was very boring at first. But later, when I got to episode 5 or so, I gained interest in the anime because of the sudden revelation of a character in the story. This anime has fantasy in it, and also, the sudden turn a twists of events in the story is something that you can look forward to when you watch it. I admit that I was actually teary-eyed on some episodes of the anime. But I still find it disturbing that Yuichi gets to have intimate relationships with five girls one after the other (or even sometimes, at the same time O.O) This anime can be a tear-jerker but there are really scenes that are so dull, like nothing interesting happening, that I had to bear just to get on to the next interesting part. So if you want an anime with unexpected turns of events that also, has cute characters in it (with very cute actions :3) this is the anime series you're looking for. ;)

Fate/Stay Night
"Oooh sounds like an RPG game." That was my first impression of Fate/Stay Night. One of my favorite animes - great battle scenes, unexpected events, and diverse characters - adding them up creates an AWESOME anime. The plot is about the competition of seven participants over the Holy Grail, a magical object which can grant any wish to the winner of the competition. Each participant should also have a Servant, a historical figure which can be real or fiction that falls under these classes: Archer, Berserker, Sorcerer, Assassin, Lancer, Rider, and Saber. The main character, Emiya Shirou, gets Saber which I think is too AWESOME for him. Together, they battle other Servants and sometimes banding up with Rin Tohsaka when the going gets tough. :D Rin is also a participant of the Holy Grail War, her Servant is Archer. She envies Shirou for getting Saber despite his weak magical abilities but still, she helps him in tough times because of some circumstances. :D The series also have some great hidden details in it, that can't be easily noticed when one just watch the series like the usual. ;) (i.e. Archer's identity, Reason for Rin's summoning of Archer) But definitely, this anime series is really a must-watch.
Letter Bee (Tegami Bachi)
Letter Bee is one of the saddest anime that I've seen. You'd always see Lag Seeing, the main character, crying in almost every episode. :( This anime series is mainly about Letter Bees and their experiences in their very difficult job..... DELIVERING LETTERS. \o/ Yes, delivering letters in their world is difficult because a Bee would have to face Gaichuus (large armored insects) along the way and walk through harsh weathers and unfriendly terrains just to deliver a single letter. Well, Bees can't always handle their jobs alone so they are usually accompanied by their dingos. A dingo can be anything as long as it can help you fight those Gaichuus or help a Bee do faster deliveries. As for Lag Seeing, he has Niche as his dingo. Niche is a child of the Maka and has the ability to use her hair as golden swords. (btw, Niche is a girl) Lag is not of the combat type so I think Niche's part in fighting Gaichuus is a very great help to him. The series is mostly all about letter-delivering experiences. The series is more focused on the flow of the story rather than on great and action-packed battle scenes. Though, I never cried even once watching the whole series but I did feel very sad on some parts of it. :D
